Position Description:

The Department of Physics and Astronomy (http://www.physics.uiowa.edu) at the University of Iowa invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor to begin August 21, 2019. The position is for an experimentalist specializing in ultrafast optical spectroscopy of condensed matter materials. Duties of the position will consist of teaching courses at all levels and establishment of an active research program. A successful candidate may also show interest in the newly launched Center for Research, Exploration, and Advanced Technology in Engineering and Sciences (Iowa-CREATES), a newly formed Materials Analysis, Testing, and Fabrication User Facility (MatFAB) (https://research.uiowa.edu/impact/news/ui-gears-new-improved-research-center-engineering-and-physical-sciences), and the Molecular Beam Epitaxy User Facility. 



 

Education Requirement:

Required qualification includes a Ph.D. in Physics, Optics, or related field is required by August 21, 2019.

Required Qualifications:

A strong commitment to effective teaching and mentoring students, potential to develop an internationally recognized research program, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to working towards a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Physics, Optics, or related field and a proven record of research and funding support are desirable.
