The Department of Management & Organizations within the Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa invites applications for one or more tenure-track/tenured positions with benefits in organizational behavior, human resource management, or entrepreneurship at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels starting August 21, 2019. Rank will be based on experience and record of achievement. A faculty Fellowship or Professorship may be available for a suitably qualified candidate. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. The Management & Organizations department has 12 tenured/tenure-track faculty members, including: Ken Brown, Jay Christensen-Szalanski, Amy Colbert, Eean Crawford, Arturs Kalnins, Amy Kristof-Brown, Ning Li, Beth Livingston, Sara Rynes, Greg Stewart, Rong Su, and Michele Williams as well as a secondary appointment of Ion (Bodi) Vasi in Sociology. The department also has outstanding clinical and visiting faculty and lecturers. The department offers undergraduate majors in Human Resource Management, Leadership and Management, and Entrepreneurial Management. The department houses the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.
The department is known for its excellence in research, teaching, and service to the profession, as well as its supportive and engaging environment. Faculty members regularly serve as editors of major journals (including former editors of Academy of Management Journal and Academy of Management Learning and Education, and several former Associate Editors at Journal of Applied Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, and Journal of Management.) Faculty members have won numerous research awards, and maintain leadership positions in various divisions of the Academy of Management. The department has also been recognized for teaching effectiveness, with numerous collegiate and university teaching awards. The Henry B. Tippie College of Business is housed in the John Pappajohn Business Building, which features the Marvin A. Pomerantz Business Library, technology-equipped classrooms, and a behavioral research lab. The Iowa City area community includes Coralville, North Liberty, Solon, and other small towns with a total population of about 100,000. The University both provides and attracts a wide variety of cultural opportunities, Big Ten athletic events, and a number of business endeavors resulting from scientific and educational research that originated at the University of Iowa. Excellent public schools, close neighborhoods, and a highly educated population mean that Iowa City frequently appears high on “best-place-to-live” listings in national magazines. Twenty miles to the north is Cedar Rapids, Iowa’s second-largest city, home to the Eastern Iowa Airport (CID) and a population of about 120,000.
An earned doctorate or strong evidence that the doctoral degree will be completed before August 21, 2019.
