Position Description:

The Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation is seeking a physiatrist to work with our Orthopedics Spine Surgery Service in seeing nonsurgical spine patients. This position will provide nonsurgical specialty spine care to an existing population of patients with acute and chronic spine conditions. Additionally, this position will be responsible for covering a neurotrauma rehabilitation consultation service at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in our Level I Trauma Center and assisting/directing the acute hospital rehabilitation management for patients prior to their dismissal to a local inpatient rehabilitation center.  Additional clinical responsibilities in electrodiagnostic medicine, interventional physiatry, or musculoskeletal ultrasonography clinics are available for qualified candidates.  This is an excellent tenure or clinical (non-tenure) track career opportunity to work with internationally-renowned orthopadic surgeons and other faculty within the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine. Faculty will be appointed as an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. Rank and salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.



 

Education Requirement:

Graduate of an accredited medical school.

Required Qualifications:

Excellent clinical and academic credentials.



Experience working in a team setting.



Effective communication and interpersonal skills.



A commitment to ongoing performance improvement.

Certifications:

Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Desirable Qualifications:

Extensive expertise in outpatient care patients with acute and chronic spine conditions is highly desired.



Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching with goals of developing a career in academic physiatry.
