Position Description:

The University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Department of Neurology is currently recruiting candidates for faculty positions within the Cerebrovascular Division as Stroke Specialists. Candidates may be appointed to either tenure or non-tenure track based on qualifications and experience. This position may also have a joint appointment with the Iowa Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center.


The Division of Cerebrovascular Diseases of the Department of Neurology is a component of the multidisciplinary University of Iowa Comprehensive Stroke Center and the only accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center in the state of Iowa.   The Center includes an inpatient service that treats approximately 900 inpatients and 1250 outpatients per year, a vascular fellowship program, and is a participant in federally and privately funded clinical research studies.

Education Requirement:

The successful candidate will hold an MD degree or equivalent, be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited Neurology residency and have completed fellowship training in Vascular Neurology or have equivalent clinical experience.

Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated interest in clinical and basic research is required.


Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff, and students and be able to demonstrate job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment.

 

Certifications:

Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Desirable Qualifications:

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with significant teaching, leadership experience and/or an established research record.
