Position Description:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking a highly qualified individual at the Associate Professor or Professor level to join our faculty as Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology enjoys a high clinical volume and the newest in surgical techniques, including robotics. An NIH-funded basic and clinical research program is in place.

Education Requirement:

M. D. Degree, Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology, a minimum of 6 years on academic faculty post-fellowship.

Required Qualifications:

Required Qualifications include excellent communication, clinical, operative, and educational skills with a desire to grow a premier academic division. The applicant must be committed to fellow, resident, and medical student education, and patient care. Clinical or laboratory research is required for a tenure track appointment.   The Director of the Division will need experience in the training of fellows and working in cooperative group settings.


Certifications include being certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology Obstetrics and Gynecology as well as subspecialty certified in Gynecologic Oncology.

Desirable Qualifications:

Strong academic stature and experience is preferred. An independent and funded basic laboratory or clinical research program is highly desired. The University of Iowa Division of Gynecologic Oncology is an active member of the Gynecologic Oncology Group and is approved for a fellowship.
