Hourly PRN Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner -UI QuickCare

Position Summary: The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics is seeking an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to perform direct patient care, including diagnostic and therapeutic services. The Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), the ARNP will exercise autonomy in medical decision making and services provided. The ARNP will also assist in educating healthcare students, as they rotate through the respective departments and divisions and will assist in research endeavors as appropriate. This position reports directly to the Lead APP of QuickCare, Medical Director

within the UI Community Clinics and Lead APP within UI Community Clinics. Must be able travel to five QuickCare locations (North Liberty, Coralville, Iowa City-Sycamore Mall &

Old Capital Mall, and Mormon Trek).

Work hours range from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM Monday - Friday, Weekends 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrates competence in the skills, (processes, procedures, and equipment) necessary to carry out assigned duties as identified below. Demonstrated competence in recognizing and responding to patients physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs should be evaluated in relation to the patient populations served as appropriate for each responsibility.


  • Must comply with registration and licensure requirements as specified by the Iowa Board of Nursing, which includes graduation from an accredited nursing educational program and certification by an accepted accrediting agency.
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Board certified and licensed as an ARNP in state of Iowa.

REQUIRED Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage acutely ill patient population (of all ages) within a highly functioning unit/department.
  • Proved capacity to function with a high degree of autonomy while actively collaborating within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a diverse environment.

DESIRED Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year primary care experience.
