Working Title IRB Application Analyst

The University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development seeks a self-motivated professional to serve as IRB Application Assistant in the Human Subjects Office. This temporary position will provide administrative assistance and expertise for the human subject’s protection programs and services administered by the Human Subjects Office (HSO). Conduct a thorough review of commercial IRB applications to ensure that federal and university requirements for application content and informed consent documents are met. To coordinate the activities and interactions among the UI Institutional Review Boards (IRB), commercial institutional review boards, other University committees, and UI investigators.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Some (6 months - 1 year) related administrative or program coordination experience.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrates basic level of proficiency regarding compliance with federal regulations.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrates working level of proficiency identifying problems and obtaining resolution alternatives.
  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Demonstrates working level of proficiency processing information with good accuracy. Evidence of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Communicating for Effective Relationships: Demonstrates working level of proficiency in facilitating collaborative communication and working well with others in a professional environment.
  • Service Excellence/Customer Focus: Demonstrates working level of proficiency listening to feedback and adding value to customer interactions.

Desired Qualifications:

  • One or more years' experience conducting research involving human participants, or in a related administrative role supporting human subjects research.
  • Working knowledge of university policies and federal regulations regarding the protection of human subjects in research.
  • Technical experience with an electronic research application database or other data management system or electronic workflow system.

This hourly position will pay between $18.26 - $19.23 per hour based on qualifications. This position is a temporary position expected to last up to 4 months from hire date.
