The State Hygienic Laboratory at the University of Iowa (Iowa’s Environmental and Public Health Laboratory) has an Environmental Analyst opening in the Ankeny Laboratory. This is a six month term appointment and will run from approximately May 2018 through October 2018. Job duties include collecting water, biological, and wastewater samples from rivers, streams, lakes, and industries and performing various analyses on samples in the field and laboratory. Extensive travel across Iowa is required. The candidate should have or be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Animal Ecology, Environment Science, or a related discipline with an emphasis in aquatic science or fisheries. Some experience with collection of surface water samples, wastewater samples, routine analytical procedures, electrofishing, and invertebrate collection desired but not necessary. Candidates must have solid verbal and written communication skills and a valid driver’s license. This is a full time, six month term position starting at $16 per hour.
