Merit Typing Test Answers

Which positions require a typing test?

A minimum score of 40 words per minute is required for the Clerk Typist I, II, & III; Secretary I, II, III, & IV. Pharmacy Technician I, II, & III requires a score of 15 words per minute. Some individual clerical positions may require a score of 20 or 30 words per minute. The job advertisement will state this requirement.

How frequently may I take the typing test?

You may retake the typing test once per day.

Where can I take the typing test?

You may take the typing test at the University Human Resources Employment Services Office in 102 University Services Building, or you may take a test at a State Work Force Center and request that the results be sent to the UHR Employment Services Office.

How long are typing tests valid?

Typing scores are valid for 3 years from the date the test was taken.
