This facility will provide support to a major Big 10 University and UI Hospitals and Clinics facilities and is a trigeneration system supplying electric power, steam and hot water heating, and chilled water cooling to new and existing facilities on the Oakdale Campus.  Facility currently houses four natural gas boilers.  Two engine generators are being constructed that will be capable of burning either natural gas or biogas supplied from a nearby landfill or anaerobic digesters.  Additional generation capability is in the conceptual planning phase.  This system will also provide back-up power to vital loads at campus facilities from the central generating facility.  A central chilled water plant supporting the campus is in design.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient and economical operation of these facilities.  &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Responsibilities include:  Provide leadership for and management of operations and maintenace of the UI Oakdale Renewable Energy Plant and associated distribution systems; Direct and mentor UI supervisors and staff concerning daily operational matters; Develop and manage contracts for operations and maintenance; Review, develop and implement unit processes to improve effectiveness and efficiencies; Manage expenditure of funds, order and approve requests for materials, equipment and parts; Perform supervisory functions including interviewing, selection, training, scheduling, performance evaluation, conflict management, promotion and disciplinary action; Develop, modify and communicate policies to staff and contractors; Plan, prioritize, coordinate and supervise  operations or maintenance activities on complex mechanical and electrical plant systems and equipment; Oversee safety program, including conducting weekly safety meetings, establishing a staff led safety committee and overseeing implementation of a safety incident investigation and corrective action process; Participate in strategic planning for Power Plant expansion and the identification and development of additional renewable energy opportunities.  &lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of buildings, campus grounds, and utility systems on the University of Iowa Campus.
