The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a dynamic BC/BE Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician to staff a growing and uniquely well-supported academic program. Responsibilities will include staffing inpatient and outpatient consultative services, working with an exceptional interdisciplinary team, and teaching throughout the institution. This is a new position, created in anticipation of increased medical examiner case volume from SE Iowa. The successful applicant will join one board-certified forensic pathologist.

A new, university hospital-based autopsy facility will open in Nov 2008. The autopsy service currently performs approximately 300 autopsies per year, of which approximately 50% are medical examiner consent autopsies. Service coverage is provided by the forensic pathologist and many staff anatomic pathologists. Specialized neuropathology and pediatric pathology consultations are readily available in the anatomic pathology section of our department, in addition to excellent surgical pathology resources.

Faculty appointments can be in the tenure or clinical tracks and at the academic rank commensurate with previous experience. Salary and benefits are competitive.
