Position Description:

The University of Iowa Department of Internal Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking an ABIM board eligible or board-certified Infectious Diseases physician at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor.



This position will involve inpatient and outpatient consultative care for general Infectious Disease patients and a smaller role in outpatient HIV Medicine and/or TelePrEP. There are opportunities for formal training in quality improvement and health services research that are expected to help the candidate develop leadership roles in those areas, including antimicrobial stewardship. Travel Medicine activities are available, if desired by the candidate.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.



 

Education Requirement:

Individuals under consideration must have a M.D. or equivalent degree.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have an interest in antimicrobial stewardship, medical education and clinical care in an academic setting. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

Certifications:

Candidates must be ABIM board-eligible or board-certified in Infectious Diseases.

Desirable Qualifications:

Desirable attributes include experience with antimicrobial stewardship programs in hospital settings, evidence of strong clinical skills, and a record of excellent interpersonal skills and positive interactions with students, staff and faculty. Demonstrated experience promoting an inclusive culture in the workforce and academic environment is desired.
