| Position Description: | The University of Iowa School of Social Work seeks a tenure-track assistant professor (9-month academic appointment) to teach, conduct research, and engage in service. The School of Social Work offers programs at the B.A., M.S.W., and Ph.D. levels, with faculty scholarship foci in the following areas: aging, child welfare, mental health, and culturally competent social work practice. The University of Iowa is a Research I institution that offers generous supports for junior faculty in developing their program of research. The School is the home to the National Resource Center on Familty Centered Practice (NRCFCP), which promotes family-centered, community based, culturally competent practice within organizations and across systems through research and evaluation, training and technical assistance, and information dissemination. | Education Requirement: | - Masters of Social Work
- PhD degree in Social Work or related field |
| Required Qualifications: | - A minimum of two years post-graduate level micro or macro level practice experience;
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research and publish in a substantive area of social work; - Demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness; - Demonstrated commitment to integrate human diversity and cultural competence in teaching. |
| Desirable Qualifications: | - If applying for a practice position, ability to teach in the School's Family Centered or Integrated Concentrations;
- If applying for a policy position, ability to teach in the School's policy sequence: Social Welfare Policy and Practice, Advanced Social Policy for Family Centered or Integrated Practice; - A program of research that complements one or more of the School's areas of scholarship mentioned above; - Interest in teaching MSW level introduction and advanced research methods. |
