POSITION SUMMARY: The Division of Student Life; Recreational Services is seeking a Sport Camp Instructor to assist with the daily operations of the Hustling Hawkeyes Summer Camps Program at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center and Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.

 

DUTIES TO INCLUDE:

  • Arrive at shift punctually and leave when replacement arrives or check-out is complete.
  • Instruct sport-based activities for daily groups participating in camps as well as other recreational activities for the entire camp.
  • Assist Supervisor with managing the care and safety of the campers.
  • Self-motivated, energetic and willingness to be flexible in duties and interactions with students.
  • Maintain a positive attitude at all times.
  • Focus on working as a team with other instructors, supervisors and any other camp staff.
  • Effectively communicate when meeting with campers, parent/guardians, co-workers, and Supervisors.

 

POSITION BASICS:

Hourly Rate/Range: $13.00

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

Hours: 20-40 hours/week

Shift: Mornings or Afternoons

Work Week: Monday - Friday

Additional Hours: May work occasional overtime to cover absences and peak periods of operatio

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Interest/background in sports and recreation.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous day/summer camp work experience.
  • Pursuing degree in education, child psychology, sport management or related fields.
